Elite Physical Therapy Staff
Marc Riley, PT OCS ATC CSCS
Marc Riley is co-founder of Elite Therapy, PC located in Mansfield, PA. Marc’s philosophy of patient care is that the quality of healthcare delivered is directly proportional to the skill and level of training of the therapist. Marc has spent most of his career working in environments that have allowed him to learn and grow professionally.
Marc earned his Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training/Exercise Science at Ithaca College in 1997. Marc's first job was as Athletic Trainer for the Elmira Pioneers minor league baseball team. Marc put in long hours and was challenged by working with the elite athlete. He was able to work closely with the team orthopedic surgeon to deliver the level of care needed to keep the players on the field during the grueling minor league season. He obtained his certification as a strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) to meet the specific demands of working with elite athletes. Marc's experience with the Pioneers caught the attention of Roberts Wesleyan University in Rochester, where he worked as the Head Athletic Trainer. Following that, Marc moved to Texas and worked at the Center for Sports Medicine at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where he worked with several high level university/professional athletes. Marc's next career step was to get back on the field with the athletes and took a position at Thompson Health System Sports Medicine Center in Canandaigua, NY assigned to a local high school to provide athletic training services for the high school athletic department. He was a member of their sports medicine team composed of physicians, athletic trainers, and physical therapists. Marc had the opportunity to learn from some of the best orthopedic surgeons in upstate New York. Marc had developed his athletic training skills and specialized his training of athletes. At this point in his career, Marc decided to advance his training formally by earning his masters degree in Physical Therapy from Gannon University in Erie, PA. When Marc graduated with his Physical Therapy degree he was uniquely qualified in the field with his prior experience as an athletic trainer. He was recruited to work in San Antonio, Texas at one of the leading balance and vestibular treatment centers in the country to assist in cutting edge research in the management of sports related concussions. Marc worked both full time and as a consultant at the Ear institute of Texas for 2 years with one of the top neuro-otologists in the country. Marc was close to opening his own clinic in San Antonio specializing in the treatment of balance and vestibular disorders, but he was drawn back to Elmira, NY to be closer to family. He has worked in Tioga County, PA for the last 2 years while living in Elmira. Over the last two years Marc has continued his professional development by sitting for his orthopedic physical therapy specialist exam. Marc became a board certified specialist in orthopedic physical therapy in June 2007.
Marc currently lives in Elmira with his wife Alyssa (also a physical therapist at St Joseph’s Hospital) and their two dogs, Alamo and Seneca. The four of them can typically be found on Sunday’s in the fall cheering loudly for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Marc has used these steps in his career to achieve a level of clinical excellence to deliver the highest level of care to his patients. Marc is joined by his co-founder Chris Jones, PT OCS SCS in developing the Elite Therapy Mission. Chris and Marc are committed to this mission.
